Testing emergency lighting is important not only for fire protection but to ensure compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety obligations & requirements.

Emergency and Exit lighting often goes neglected until the event of a power outage or emergency – therefore risking the safety and security of building occupants. Emergency lighting systems should always be fully operational when needed, but unseen and not prominent during day to day tenancy.

In Queensland, all emergency and exit lighting in commercial buildings, to comply with relevant building codes in accordance with the Australian Standard AS/NZ 2293.2;1995 Emergency and Exit lights must remain lit for at least 90 minutes during a power outage, so that people are able to quickly and safety exit the building.
